I ran into an issue the other day where I had an anchor tag with a span and an SVG as direct children that needed to be center-aligned vertically. Because of the constraints of the project, I could not use grid or flexbox on this component, and so I had to bust out the "vertical-align" CSS property for the first time ever. I've been tinkering with CSS for nearly 4 years, and honestly I didn't know this property existed until now! I guess I've always flexbox-ed my way around it somehow.

I'm learning CSS from scratch, and I am so lost on what the difference is between positioning by "items", "content", "self" or whatever else. And then the difference between "justify", "align", "place". I looked for cheat sheets online but they only confused me more.
