I feel like this is more of an entertainment account than an educational one. There is a lot of romanticizing of a Norwegians women role in society, while avoiding a lot of the horrors all genders INCLUDING women had to endure

Shield Maidens, to this day are at best a highly mythicized concept. Even the supposed female Viking, well she was a high ranking female who was buried with expensive weapons and regalia. That isn’t how Vikings where normally buried, so it’s questionable if her grave represented a Viking or some other role. No evidence of a female Viking has ever actually been found. Women fought in battles in Scandinavia at times, because who doesn’t raise a sword to defend their home? Thing is, you’ll find in Western Europe noble women didn’t also just surrender. They could even command their husbands troops when he was away. So it’s not as unusual as one might think.
