slight correction from a professional mixing engineer: the low mids CAN make your voice sound muddy but they're also responsible for the warmth and richness in certain voice ranges. The upper mids (1khz - 4khz) are where the majority of vocal content is so I would not cut here unless you absolutely have to, this is where you should be boosting if anything. Boosting at 6/8khz is a great way to bring out extra sibilance which you probably don't want to do. The air and sheen in the voice comes at around 12khz and higher so you want to add a high shelf there.

depending on the room acoustics your recording in and your voice, boosting the bass can make your recording sound extra muddy. i often reduce the bass by 1 or 2 db to make some voices easier to understand and stand out over any game audio or music, boosting the high end can make some voices sound too high pitched or sibilant.. you need to eq for the specific voice, you can just set a eq like this and expect it to work for everyone.. also 5-10db of compression is too much for a speaking voice IMO

Much better off using vocal rider a waves plugin for dynamic volume control or any vst plugin for that pretty sure rea plugs has one for that.
Tho a lot of people don’t use compression properly and leads to an over saturated high end or overly muddy low end depending the compressor of course.
Vintage digital typically more warm sound
Modern digital more high and mids giving a more sparkly sound or crisp tone people like
