Ā Ā Ā ā¢Ā DioĀ -Ā HeavenĀ &Ā HellĀ LiveĀ DrumĀ TributeĀ Ā It's been over 7 years since I last uploaded a video to YouTube, and this seemed the right video and the right time, as today would have been Ronnies 81st Birthday! Ronnie was a huge influence on my life, and il be ever thankful to have known him.
This particular song has always been one of my favourites that he made, and this version has a big significance for me as I was there at the Astoria in London the night it was recorded; Ronnie had allowed 15-year-old me to do my school work experience on the road with Dio assisting Andre their drum tech. It was an incredible experience, one that il never forget and one that il be forever thankful for. I remember standing stage left for Heaven & Hell, I remember the moment the fan got on stage, and Ronnie handled it just like the pro he was! The drumset that night was a beautiful DW Kit with an Edge Snare, which id never held before, I remember being blown away by how heavy the snare drum was, and it sounded incredible!
Simon had an excellent show that night.
It was a great band for that tour, with Simon, Scott, Doug and Rudy all supporting Ronnie as they were out playing all the classics on the Holy Diver tour.
I regularly walk past where the Astoria once stood when on my way to our London office, and I am always reminded of that incredible experience.
My life has been very different since the last I posted a video; over the last 7 years, I have hardly played, but at the start of this year, I started practising a lot more regularly again; there had been years since the last video that I may not have even played for an hour in the entire year. The main reason for the lack of playing has been a change of priorities and a change in the industry I work in.
And most importantly, I now have a beautiful family 3 children (Harry, Emilia and Evie) and a beautiful wife (Sadie)!
After this, I plan to release a few more videos, all with meaning to me and a story behind why I have recorded them. Hopefully, you can enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed putting them together.
Thanks.
