What to do though, when you already have these "short" subs and you still want to post longform content?
How about the "inform subs" button when you upload a video. Will this prevent youtube from getting worse data from the short viewers?

that's pretty mid advice, I started with shorts and pulled long form vids with 500k views a video, when a short viewer is clicking from the recommended or search, they're looking for a longer video to watch, they click off because you didn't deliver the type of videos you make short-form OR since you're a short-form creator and try to apply short-form editing style on long-form videos which won't work, so it's not because their "attention span is lower", rather the creators inability to make long form content the right way
same way you, N8, are trying to apply long-form pace and editing style on shorts + some mediocre bait that is easy to see through

I did the opposite and now I’m an only long form video creator. But I feel like my style of video was unique enough at the time that my short viewers wanted to see longer videos
