There were several factors for sure but like a lot of families we wanted something not only powerful but something that made the most sense economically.
Years and years ago I already went through the "cheap water filter" phase where you pay $25 up front but then I'm figured out I'm paying 40 cents per gallon for that top store brand.
You know what we pay per gallon for our Berkey system? 2-3 cents per gallon. Huge difference!
Which one would you choose? Our family will always take the more powerful filter which also happens to be the most economical option.

Yes they seem to be the only one that filters the 15 contaminants I want out of my drinking water. Now I hear the white filters are leaking aluminum. I’m not sure what I can replace them with.

I accidentally washed my Berkey filters, fluoride and charcoal, with mildly soapy water, and rinsed thoroughly. Are they ruined or am I able to use them as long as I don’t do that again lol.
