Sun salutations classically, done at dawn, are the traditional way that yogis have paid homage to the sun.
Although there are many different styles sun salutations share something in common. They take us up and down off the floor (unless we are doing chair yoga), they stretch the back in all kinds of positions, keeping it flexible and strong.
At the same time of lifting the body upwards (in all such positions) we are thanking the sun and as we lower our selves down, we are literally bowing.
When we consider sun salutations from this perspective, we are bringing gratitude to the forces of nature remembering our connection to the universe and setting ourselves up for positive thinking throughout the day.
Weโd love to know how many you do, but the number is not important, what really matters is how you bring attention to the constant, but amazing forces that give forth to life.
