I would despise stinky people all my life thinking they are lazy, dirty or maybe retarded. Until one day I was prescribed a certain medication which made me sweat and stink that I couldn't stand my own scent. No amount of showering would help. I had to get off that medicine. Lesson learned, don't be quick to judge.

Just a lil reminder, not everyone was taught personal hygiene as a kid. Lots of neglectful situations or situations with childhood sa where bo was used as a form of protection towards an abuser. These tendencies can linger in to adulthood. As well has other mental health issues that may impact self care. If you ever speak to someone about this please be kind and do it with their heart in mindđ¤

Some people have hyperhydrosis which causes them to sweat and it can smell bad but they literally have no power over it. I know someone that would shower like 3 times a day and he would still smell after a bit- and his anxiety over smelling made him sweat even more. Which made him smell more. He does so much to try to counter it but its really hard for him and it still gets brought up to him at work sometimes. He explains the situation but still tries even harder. Its a big problem for him and he feels like he has no control over it, so its really sad.

I had to do that once. I had to pull a guy aside and tell him in a polite adult way that our customers like him but he has very high BO and may need to wash his clothes and use deodorant. He was so nice. ..never had a problem after. I hope he is doing well nowđ It has been over a decade now

Sometimes the stank aint the shower. If its the sour/meldew smell, its the clothes or something like a towel. They can some times rack up so much bacteria (through accumalation of sweat) that even a cycle of lauandry (no matter the amount of detergent) doesnt help. That item will be one time use and as soon as it gets moist again that bacteria gets super activated. It needs like proper bleaching or something, only then can you restore proper freshness.

I have a family member that showers twice a day, uses antiperspirant, deodorant and body spray, but he still has an odor. He has an auto-immune disorder that is related to increased histamines in his blood stream. His sweat causes an allergic reaction on his skin that looks like acid burn, and smells like burned popcorn. He takes massive antihistamines to try to balance it, as well as eats a special diet. Heâs the cleanest person I knowâ- itâs not always about poor hygiene. Sometimes itâs a medical problem. His doctors say that he will eventually grow out of it as he ages. Time will tellâŚ. But until then, he showers 2-3 times a day, applies deodorant or body spray every couple of hours, and some days, changes his shirt several times. Be kind.

I had a coworker who smelt like BO so bad it would stink up the entire Taco Bell. Yes. Working with food. When weâd call him out he wouldnât care, he literally said âwhy would I wash my clothes when they are going to get dirty againâ đđ ok so why wipe your a** when youâre going to poop again? It was foul and I remember seeing him itch his balls off camera and then put on gloves without washing his hands. Be careful where you eat cause you never know whoâs making your foo

I have anosmia, but growing up I didnât realize I actually couldnât smell at all. This is one of my biggest fears, is being smelly and no one telling me about it. Luckily for me, I try to have a designated nose who I know will be honest with me. Anosmia is more common now than ever, with many people never gaining back their sense of smell after COVID. Iâm begging you, please tell the person. Pull them aside and tell them. They will forever be thankful to you for sparing them the embarrassment and humiliation.

It's rare but I've been the person they ask to talk to the smelly person. Sometimes it's just the wrong soap or deodorant (the blue stuff makes some people smell like onion), or they don't shower before work, they don't "believe" laundry detergent works, they were never taught to use these products at all or they just neglect themselves... I do my best not to embarrass people and instead speak to them 1 on 1, having a conversation can really help. I'm glad they also have someone that can kindly correct that issue.

I used to stink a lot when I was in my early teens and it literally ruined my life.
I was super hygienic but still always smelt like literal shit. I feel like it was somehow related to my anxiety because whenever I was at home or in the car I felt fine, but in social situations it's like it would just activate.
I was and am super hygienic too. Brush teeth twice a day, shower twice a day (with a bar of soap AND high end body wash), and only wore fresh clothes.
I'm fine now but I still never found out the cause. Sometimes when I get super anxious I feel like it starts to happen again but I can't tell if I smell or it's just my head.
My teens literally killed my confidence for so long and even now I'm still always self-conscious about how I smell. I even wear super expensive fragrances now so I'm always known as the guy that smells good.
