I guess people forget that not every soldier followed the manual of arms and just did what worked

And just IMAGINE the stress of having to clear a jammed garand while taking cover in real combat.

Dude, it’s terrifying. How realistic these reenactments can get, you know someone did that 80 years ago.

I was a spectator this year and let me tell you, it was fkn awesome, the whole experience of exploring the camps and hearing all the very intelligent volunteers speak about the history of their arsenal. If you live anywhere around Conneaut, you gotta go here at least once in your life. If the creator of the video sees this, thanks for making it a good time!

Always weird to me that everyone understands that a gun is a tool built to handle rough conditions but when that gun is an M1 all of a sudden it's a fragile artifact that must be handled with the utmost care lest it dissolve into dust.

Remember kids, the Garand survived the war. A little kick wont hurt it

"You would kick an old rifle like that?"
"If it worked for them, it works for me"

Well , blank ammo notoriously jams a rifle

When I was in the Marines, I got the chance to learn about the M1 Garand, BAR, and a few other firearms from a Marine-specific historical group. Our teacher said "well, the CORRECT manual of arms is to mortar the rifle stock in the dirt with the muzzle pointed away from you, and use the energy to actuate the charging handle, but you quickly realize that most people aren't going to stand up in the middle of a firefight to do so. Just kick the damn thing and don't eat the muzzle while you do it."

Remember, kickstarting your M1 garand is faster than switching weapons

Imagine being on D-Day, with machine guns dug into the beach like ticks firing at you along with mortars and mines and then yiur rifle has a malfunction and here you are trying to get your weapon working as your buddies next to you are being torn limb from limb. You finally get your rifle operating and you turn to mine up a German in your sights. Crazy shit.

Tbf even if it’s not technically the correct way of doing it, that doesn’t mean soldiers never did things like this

Let me clarify here for you people that never seen a battlefield. When your weapon jams in a combat situation (although fake here) you’re gonna do whatever tf it takes to un jam your weapon. It’s your fycking life line 💀🤦🏽

Whatever works, works. It's not aesthetics on the line, or your aura. It's your damn life. Bro did the right thing despite not being in actual combat
