I was a spectator this year and let me tell you, it was fkn awesome, the whole experience of exploring the camps and hearing all the very intelligent volunteers speak about the history of their arsenal. If you live anywhere around Conneaut, you gotta go here at least once in your life. If the creator of the video sees this, thanks for making it a good time!

When I was in the Marines, I got the chance to learn about the M1 Garand, BAR, and a few other firearms from a Marine-specific historical group. Our teacher said "well, the CORRECT manual of arms is to mortar the rifle stock in the dirt with the muzzle pointed away from you, and use the energy to actuate the charging handle, but you quickly realize that most people aren't going to stand up in the middle of a firefight to do so. Just kick the damn thing and don't eat the muzzle while you do it."

Imagine being on D-Day, with machine guns dug into the beach like ticks firing at you along with mortars and mines and then yiur rifle has a malfunction and here you are trying to get your weapon working as your buddies next to you are being torn limb from limb. You finally get your rifle operating and you turn to mine up a German in your sights. Crazy shit.

I guess people forget that not every soldier followed the manual of arms and just did what worked
