Yes, power steering is for moving the wheels while the vehicle is stationary. Because if you live in the city, tight spaces exist. Power steering was a godsend for the tight lane parking.

Cars without power steering usually opt to make you rotate more revolutions to turn the same amount. As youve demonstrated here, it also has a larger steering wheel, likely to increase torque.

The much larger steering wheel also helps. Cars designed with power steering, and the power steering goes out, will be much harder to turn than a vehicle designed without it. But I do agree it's obviously easier when in movement.

"Don't dry steer!" was the mantra expressed when I was learning how to drive commercial vehicles. Saves stress on the front end and saves spot wear on the tires.

It also helps having narrower tires up front. The old, skinny bias ply tires were easier to turn at a stop. I've noticed this with two cars of mine.
