Does this works for the Sony A6400?

Sony absolutely dropped the ball here, and it’s not just “baffling” it’s outright ridiculous. How can a company known for catering to creators overlook something so essential? The fact that the $80 remote commander for the A7 IV doesn’t allow playback of recorded footage is a massive failure, especially when older, cheaper remotes for cameras like the A9 had this feature. It’s not just an oversight it’s a step backward.

This isn’t some niche request it’s a basic functionality that many creators depend on. For solo performers or directors, especially those working with expensive props, intricate setups, and tight schedules, the ability to review a shot without running back to the camera is critical. Instead, Sony expects users to disrupt their workflow, risk their gear, and completely step out of character just to check if a shot is good. It’s a colossal waste of time and effort.

Even more absurd is that Sony’s app doesn’t include this feature either. It’s not like the technology isn’t there they’ve already done it in previous products. How they could release a remote for a high end camera without playback support, and then fail to offer a workaround in their app, is beyond comprehension. It’s lazy and out of touch with the needs of their users.

Sony makes amazing hardware, but this kind of glaring omission in both the remote and the app is shameful. If they want to keep their reputation intact, they need to fix this, either with a proper firmware update or by releasing a remote that actually serves the needs of their professional customers. As it stands, they’re making life harder for the very people they claim to support.
