We Just Poured Footings- Let me Show You How

We just poured the footings for our new house- Let me show you exactly how it’s done.
A footing is the lowest part of the foundation that gets placed directly below the foundation walls.
Our plans call for 24” wide by 10” thick footings and they sit on original undisturbed ground.
We used 2x8s and other scrap lumber to form up the footings in the garage area, and form-a-drain for the basement.
The plans called for two ½” pieces of rebar in all the footings.
The bottom of your footing has to be lower than the frost depth in your area- this varies depending on how far north you live.
We used a line pump to pour the footings. It takes the concrete from the truck and pumps it through a hose directly to where you need it.
The operator has a remote on his belt to control the pump.
The guys check the footing height with the laser level as they go, and then smooth everything out once it’s where it needs to be.
Once it was all poured, they snapped lines where the walls go, and then they used a scrap piece of rebar bent in a “U” to mark out the spacing for the vertical rebar.
These verticals will extend out of the footing into the wall- tying everything together.

👍🤩💝 I love the eagerness of the 4 legged inspector in the red hard hat at the end of the clip. 😍
👍💝I have had several homes built. I love watching the process and progress. I have always added various paw prints and hand prints in the smooth concrete. We know they’re there even if you can’t see

Good video. In most footings I helped pour when I was working in concrete we would put keyways usually in the middle of the footing so that when you poured the foundation wall it was locked on to the footing so when your walls solidified they wont topple over or slide off. The footing does look really good though.
