Actually, Christianity did for India. In the bible we see, the word india many times.
Then JESUS sent Thomas to India to preach the good news to the people of India. If Thomas wouldnt have come, then we wouldnt have known about JESUS and HIS LOVE for US. GOD Loves India.. Even the language you my dear sister@Gujrati_chorakho, came from missionary who made systematically create the script, created grammar and dictionaries, the schools for education, infact created schools for women to study (if its a sister) , Jesus is from middle-east Asia, the same asian subcontinent India is part of.
Leaving history behind I am a Born again believer from Hindu background Jesus (I heard is audible voice in 2007) spoke to me of hope, in midst of chaos and almost in the verge of committing suicide. I follow Him because He is not catering to any religion but He seeks relation, I don't know what made you comment this but I hope you encounter Him and find Him.
Not Christianity but Jesus Christ made freedom and hope accessible for Indians
