This is not bad news. BG3 does not need eXpAnSiOnS. Believe it or not, Larian actually made a COMPLETE game. We got a FULL game with the money we paid. No need to have DLC, expansions, or microtransactions. It’s crazy to me that the reason people loved BG3 (finished high quality product) is now somehow an issue. I know it’s standard practice in the gaming industry to milk an IP dry, but maybe— just maybe— Larian dares to be different.

Not everything needs dlc

This is good. Actually, it means they’re dead set on completing games upon arrival and not three DLC’s down the line.

Very understandable, they gave it their best and good lord did they hit it out of the park! I can imagine them wanting to take a break from enormous projects like BG3 for a while and not commit to a sequel which would hold immense expectations that even they might not be able to meet. In a way I'm also glad there won't be any DLC, I paid for the game (a AAA title no less) and I got the entire thing and then some, like in the good old times. I look forward to their next release, whatever that might be.

If you read the article they talk about how Swen came back to deliver the news the team about stopping what work they had done on the BG3 DLC and he says the team was excited to move on to other projects. They weren’t working with passion or love, they were just going through the motions. Now they’re working on two other games and moving away from D&D (understandable) and doing their own thing. They’re not pushing out Divinity 3 yet and they said it’ll be “something you don’t expect but still something familiar”

No dlc or expansion could just mean their gonna add more content passively. But that does suck about baldurs 4. I was really hoping for another gane with the missing races and classes from it's predecessor.

Literally how do you need dlc, I'm at over 1k hours and still find so much to do and different stuff I haven't tried yet

Also it’s important to add that swen did say that the game will continue to get support through patches. So basically you get free content because that’s how great larian is. They probably will still do a GOTY release and bring maybe some of the cut content, that is if it doesn’t mess up the narrative. But things like honour mode are more than likely a continued support.

I'm pissed af because ACT3 isn't even fully fleshed out and they cut so much content that most thought would be released in a 1 Year anniversary release like they've done with ALL their other games like this.

My brother in christ, the apple pie already came Ă  la mode, nobody will ever need a dlc for a perfect game.

The only thing i wish they would have legit fixed is the ability to resolve Karlachs story outside of the reference at the end party they added. Particularly when the had to have some ground work there for it with the lines the steel watch say when she is in the party

I have 130 hours in BG3 on my first playthrough as Tav. I’m not even halfway through Act3. By the end of my Durge playthrough, I’ll probably be over 300 hours. I don’t think I need a DLC 😂

They are in no way going to try and outdo their absolute best effort. Baldur’s Gate 3 is Larian’s “thank you, goodnight” mic drop moment. They would have to do more to top it, and can’t imagine anyone wanting to try that. I feel bad for whoever attempts BG4.

Thank you. The game is complete. The story is complete. Don't need to ruin with sequel. I love the decision. No need to milk a masterpiece of a game into a series like Assassin's Creed.

I definitely would have loved an expansion, the Hells, Astral Sea, fighting down Vlaakith after the Base Game :'(
