Very understandable, they gave it their best and good lord did they hit it out of the park! I can imagine them wanting to take a break from enormous projects like BG3 for a while and not commit to a sequel which would hold immense expectations that even they might not be able to meet. In a way I'm also glad there won't be any DLC, I paid for the game (a AAA title no less) and I got the entire thing and then some, like in the good old times.
I look forward to their next release, whatever that might be.

If you read the article they talk about how Swen came back to deliver the news the team about stopping what work they had done on the BG3 DLC and he says the team was excited to move on to other projects. They werenât working with passion or love, they were just going through the motions.
Now theyâre working on two other games and moving away from D&D (understandable) and doing their own thing. Theyâre not pushing out Divinity 3 yet and they said itâll be âsomething you donât expect but still something familiarâ

Also itâs important to add that swen did say that the game will continue to get support through patches. So basically you get free content because thatâs how great larian is. They probably will still do a GOTY release and bring maybe some of the cut content, that is if it doesnât mess up the narrative. But things like honour mode are more than likely a continued support.

This is not bad news. BG3 does not need eXpAnSiOnS. Believe it or not, Larian actually made a COMPLETE game. We got a FULL game with the money we paid. No need to have DLC, expansions, or microtransactions. Itâs crazy to me that the reason people loved BG3 (finished high quality product) is now somehow an issue. I know itâs standard practice in the gaming industry to milk an IP dry, but maybeâ just maybeâ Larian dares to be different.
