To those saying the coin was destroyed... I agree, but it was already destroyed before I did this. It was covered in glue and has major rim damage.

Long story short, this coin was already a Cull... no cleaning in any form was going to fix that. He owner wanted an example coin and now he has one (already on its way back to him).

You can see some of the lines. LOL I see ALL of the lines! I even saw something jump off the coin as you cleaned it!

I have no problem cleaning Gunk and grime off of common circulated junk coins. I use a product called quick and bright but just regular dish soap will do with warm water and a light rubbing to get the crap off of it, it still retains toning and tarnishing but gets rid of the nasty crap.

I'd have to say I prefer the Before image more. I'd say that cleaning would definately hurt the value.

That's not something I'd ever do but since the coin was already destroyed it made for an interesting video!

Keep coins in there circulated state because I believe that it’s way cooler to think about all the cool people that could have touched that coin and your cleaning off that awesome find!! But yes it is in bad condition and I do love shiny coins but I stand by that in my collection lol no hate btw I’m a peaceful man

I found that soaking them in clr and then lightly brushing them with a soft nylon toothbrush will clean them like new and it doesn’t leave scratches or any sign of being cleaned !

You can get your coins cleaned... you just let pcgs do it and they'll call it restoration. Ms70 cleaner with a q tip and a quick ezest dip. I've seen people do it and get straight grades

Acetone would have removed the gunk in the creases without affecting the toning

It looks terrible after the laser. I won't look at the obverse...even with eye protection! 😎

That's pretty cool. The coin is only worth spot so it's a good coin for cleaning. Nice video brother

silver wipes (not polishing cloths) work wonders. They will take off all the toning and gunk off and make the coins look pristine.they also completely removed milk spots from some buffalo rounds with no perceivable damage. Only coins with obvious thinning look cleaned.

I use Rim cleaner from a car detailing shop. It's a mild acid. Works 👌

I prefer using the powdered cleaners sold at Wal-Mart on coins used for the bottom of copper pots and pans

The more lines per inch, the less obvious they will be. I bet you could make a cool cross hatch pattern by setting the number of lines really low like 10 per inch and the line size wide , then rotating the coin 90° and doing it again.

The result looks as though Nic-a-Date was used on it…still, it would be helpful on corroded coins methinks
