My USMC Brother carried a Colt .38 revolver snub nose in Vietnam. He was told by an officer to turn over the revolver to him. My brother said, “You’ll have to kill me to get it.”
My brother kept his revolver. I lost him to Agent Orange poisoning on
30 November 2016. He was only 69. He looked like he was in his late 80’s.
I terribly miss him.

This is very interesting. I've read about guys in the war being sent short .38 revolvers not only from family members and friends, but from the police departments of their hometown. Heard about a man in the 83rd Infantry in Germany who had been sent an S&W Model 10 from the US because his town's PD had extra. I would never have thought them to be very useful, but evidently, I was wrong. I appreciate this man for sharing his story and making me learn something new.
