Once we become dependent on AI, we will stop training people on the things we allow AI to do for us. We will stop training lawyers because AI can already do 95% of their jobs. We will not need data specialists, engineers of any type, chip designers, accountants, bankers, stock brokers, and on and on and on. My question is....Who will monitor the AI when we lose all those brilliant minds? Who will watch the watchers? Who will know how?
As for Sam's book....why doesn't he use AI to write it in a weekend? Answer: Because he knows it doesn't end well.

If I wrote the book, would focus less on what came before and point out how it is strong in a few ways but horrifyingly weak in other ways. The weakness can destroy, not via superintelligence, but taking over many productive things, duties, detraining us.
Worse, as we increasingly defer to its strong abilities and rely on it, the incapable parts (basic, basic common sense) will, like a mold or an acid, eat away at what once worked without A.I. One example: I say "It is my duty to...." and it chooses "It is my doodie too". Its ignorance is unfathomable, but we all seem to defer to it now when it can do so little.
What is it really good at? Keeping track of every nuance of life around any and all given humans at the same time. It has the information that, if digested, would amount to knowing every person far, far, better than they know themselves, even to your regularity, your heartbeat, your stomach grumbles, your talking or snoring during sleep.
It is a Beast, mindless and mean and calculating and callous and clueless.
