Cable gives you steady tension and you can overload more without the risks. Dumbbells start easy and get harder at the top. Both are good tools. Use what you have or free at the time. And more importantly use what you like better!! 😅

Cable gives you a more linear tension across the entire range of motion because of the direction of the force with respect to the entire motion of the arm

The dumbbell starts easy and gets harder
