Those six most iconic X-Men in Deadpool 2 were barely in one scene and didn't even have a speaking role. It still fits with the theory that the movie doesn't have the budget to pay for a full cameo from more X-men.

Honestly the rest of them weren’t necessary given that Negasonic and Colossus. Every X-man isn’t needed on every mission and though Juggernaut is a threat the team that was sent was exactly the team needed.

Why not just... put Evan Peters making a quick joke how he only showed up after they beat Juggernaut? Or maybe greenscreen the floating head of James McAvoy as a vision telling Deadpool how to stop Russell before someone asks who he's talking to? Or Tye Sheridan on a window telling Deadpool to turn his phone off and Deadpool replying for Cable's dad to shut up? So many possibilities...

Most of his team of stories end with him only getting bare minimum help but still managing to get through it in the end in some crazy wacky way he can't do that if he has a whole superpowered war vet team behind
