Actually, Bulgaria wasn't trolled and humiliated. Kievan Rus had 2 times more soldiers. They were also heavily supported by the Byzantine Empire (who actually pushed them to invade Bulgaria in the first place). The entire reason the war happened, was because the Byzantine couldn't defeat Bulgaria and they tricked Kievan Rus to helping them by also Invading. After that, The Byzantines attacked Kievan Rus as well. Proving, the war was only so the Byzantine could defeat their biggest enemy - Bulgaria, and to gain more land from Kievan Rus, who didn't expect the betrail.
