Interpol, along with law enforcement agencies in Indonesia and Japan, has taken down a phishing-as-a-service (PaaS) platform known as 16Shop. The platform was used by cybercriminals to steal the credentials and payment details of users of popular services such as Apple, PayPal, American Express, Amazon, and Cash App. The takedown resulted in the arrest of three individuals, including the administrator of 16Shop, a 21-year-old Indonesian national. Over 70,000 users in 43 countries are estimated to have been compromised via 16Shop. The takedown of 16Shop is a significant victory in the fight against cybercrime and demonstrates the importance of international collaboration in combating this threat.

In addition to the arrests, law enforcement also seized electronic items and several luxury vehicles from the suspects. The investigation into 16Shop was conducted by Interpol's General Secretariat's cybercrime directorate, with the support of national law enforcement in Indonesia, Japan, and the United States. Private sector partners Cyber Defense Institute, Group-IB, Palo Alto Networks Unit 42, and Trend Micro also provided assistance.
