Yeah, this is what happens when you completely ignore consumers. The money dries up, the investor see that and move on to the next whale, and your left holding an empty sack. This is the direction Ubisoft is heading, they thought they were untouchable. Now they are facing the very real possibility of becoming totally defunct. These companies can and absolutely will be replaced over time, for better or worse.

Way back in 1983 the video game market collapsed to about 10% of what it was just the year before. One of the leading causes was oversaturation of largely low quality games.

I think the main Issue is that Investors have not realized that at the end of the Day, Video Games are art.
It is absolutly possible, that as an Artists you can make a lot of money with your work.
However, if you want to make a lot of money, nobody would ever recommand to become an artist.
They just see the 1 Van Gogh, and dont see the thousands of art students on Reddit, that take commissions in order to finance their "art" TEACHER degree.

I personally don't think we are seeing the death of AAA gaming as that would be ignoring every successful title that was released in recent years. We are, however, seeing the real consequences of what happens to AAA studios that solely focused on short-term monetary growth over innovation and what it truly means to think you're too big to fail. We're just seeing the death of a lot of old guard

What really killed Diablo 4 for me, micro transactions aside was nerfing player builds in a game thatās 97% PVE. I thought it was fun until they started nerfing builds. Havenāt played since.

Another issue is they keep buying out other game companies, take their IP, then do nothing with them, like nothing at all, until years later when people get memories of days of yeold, and then they make a subpar game that sort of tank the series.
