Phones are increasingly similar year-to-year, but that can be a good thing. No need to upgrade for some big feature. Although I will say it's disappointing that they intentionally withhold some software features just to differentiate the newer phones.

They said the same of the T2 SOC, and it terribly underperformed.

So glad Google decided to drop Qualcomm (a genuinely evil company that doesn’t support their products for longer than two years resulting in tons of e-waste) and decided to do their own hardware with a longer support time. They’re the best of the bunch and they previously only supported their devices for 2 years, and every other manufacturer handled it far worse.

That was the reason I went with an iPhone instead of bothering with third-party Android phones because I was tired of having to use custom ROMs to get proper updates and close to stock Android, while Apple supports their devices for 7. Now that the iPhone 15 is looking disappointing, I might actually go back to Android with the Pixel 8 Pro.

Granted it’s not like Windows where all of them receive the same system and feature updates, but it’s more in line with Apple. That’s legit the only thing frustrating me with the Android ecosystem.
