M1917 (Barrel date of Sept 1919), chambered in .30-06, was used to hunt in Pennsylvania by the owner before me, and is used to hunt primarily in Florida by my son, and I.

The 303British rifles, and mausers from the great wars are still used regularly in Aus, as deer/pig guns, granted alot now are sporterised but theres still a few O.G's kicking around and they're amazing

Love your show I have several pre-64 model 70s love to hunt with them I was asked one time about my 220 Swift isn't that a barrel burner I said maybe so but what more fun can you have than to actually shoot out a barrel by using it😉

Agreed. If I'm comfortable with my ability to be accurate with it, I will hunt with it.

I only hunt with vintage firearms. A 1886 in .348 and a .303 Savage 99 and various older shotguns in 16 gauge.

I love adding my own legacy to a rifle or a shotgun that has been passed down through the generations

I use my winchester 1894 chambered in 30wcf, production 1921. So far the deer haven’t noticed its age, granted it doesn’t go with if the weather is poor but as I’m hunting my own land it’s no issue to grab a different rifle out of the safe every day if I please.

My dad had a Model 70 .338 Alaskan that he bought brand new in 1958 and it was his go to rifle right up until he died in 2016. I can only remember one time that he didn't use that gun and that was when he used my grandfather's Model 70 .300 Win Mag hunting Mule Deer after he passed away.

Starting hunting with my step dads winchester model 1917 30-06, but after a catastrophic failure, it is out of service. The firing pin stuck out after first shot at a deer, as i chambered another round, it nearly removed my thumb. Powder burns all over my right arm and face. Removed a good amount of wood furniture off of the right side. Not an ideal situation.

Wouldi hunt with antique firearm? Absolutely.

Would I use an individual piece of historic significance that belongs in a museum? Probably not.

But yes, I would absolutely take an older lever action out hunting
