yeah not a fan of the pack mount, if you need to drop your pack for whatever reason, you have lost your knife. A Combat Knife on a Chest Rig or Plate Carrier is good to go tho

I get the desire to mount a knife there, since it's a lot easier and more comfortable.. although if you're hiking or climbing and need to get your knife for any reason, the main reason people wear a knife on their shoulder is because its easy for crossdraw and reach, so you can get it with whatever hand you need, and keep your knife in your view at all times, although this isn't the most necessary, its great for survival or areas where you need to get to your knife fast.
