Let me guess, the merit one has is linked to how much money they have

The House of Lords is also larger than the House of Commons, typically the upper house is smaller of the two.

Fun fact there are also hereditary peers in Ireland, their titles are not recognised by the Irish state, but are recognised in the UK. The Earl of Rosse of Birr in County Offaly is just Brendan Parsons in Ireland as our government does not recognise peerage, but when he's in the UK he is officially the Earl of Rosse since his family's title came from the British government.

"based on merit" highly doubt that, whoever is most loyal and gives the most money to a party

There was little controversy over the Lords and their decisions until Blair increased the political appointments

The way these shorts are cut/uploaded leads me to believe they are from a long form video, but I can’t find any long form videos on the channel? Is this channel a 3rd party uploader?

That’s still more than 1 in 10 peers!

Wait, you have people actively euling the country because that's what their dad did?
That explains so much

The idea would work, but the trouble as I see it is that the King/Former Queen don't particularly intervene with home affairs. Makes sense, elected government, the people apparently want what they're selling.
Unfortunately... these people are politicians. The point of having a monarch and a parliament is that they compliment and regulate each other. This hasn't happened.
Frankly, I'd sit down every member of the Lords and ask them why they deserve to be in there. If you ain't got a good answer, you're out!

Would you mind please uploading these as one video? TikTok is spyware, despite what you may have heard, or what may be commented otherwise. Google is not the same as China, for example. I hate that I have to write all this.

Considering Boris Johnson was elected by the commons, I'd give the lords more power, not less.

Who is supposed to benefit from this change? Or are peers supposed to be oppressors of ordinary people? I would see them as professional leaders.
