Get together of 1984-91 Batch of Ajeets at Sainik School Bijapur Campus:
Bijapur, 2 Sept, 2016:
The former students of 1984-91 batch of Sainik School Bijapur congregated with their 81 class mates at their alma mater on 2 Sept, 2016, Friday.
On the stage were Col Tamojeet Biswas, Principal, Sainik School Bijapur, Sqn Ldr KJM Reddy, Vice Principal, Sqn Ldr A Muralidharan, Administrative officer, Sri GD Kale, former Senior Master, Sri GSR Murthy, Senior Master and the then School Captain, present Colonel Nagaraj Bendigeri .The programme at Kanthi auditorium started with the lighting of lamp by the dignitaries and invocation song by Mrs Sandhya Bhargava (Wife of Gundanna Hukunda Bhargava, 1889, Hoy, Infosys )
Later, Colonel Nagaraj Bendigeri (1777) of the batch welcomed the gathering. Mr Milind Katti introduced the past students to the august gathering.
Lt Col Sri Harsha Patil elucidated the contributions of the school in making the batch what it was by his exhaustive narration of the period from 1984-91.
Col Tamojeet Biswas ,Chief Guest, in his address thanked the Ajeets for visiting the alma mater and honouring the teachers.
Afterwards, Sri GD Kale, former Senior Master and promoter of Ajeet culture among the past students, called upon the participants to cultivate the habit of supporting social cause by adopting and sponsoring education for less privileged children. Former hostel Superintendent and legendary Hockey Coach Sri S Masilamani, in his address appreciated the contributions of the batch in Sports and Hockey. He recalled that the batch had won in South Zone in Hockey for the first time and stood first in South Zone Sports Meet then.
The 1984-91 batch felicitated the Officers, former and present teachers and administrative staff. Col Maqsood Ali Khan(1859) spoke movingly, his journey of life and the challenges he faced in entering the army service.
Dr.Murali Keshav, (1882) paediatrician, called upon the young Ajeets to take up the career of a doctor if they do not make it to defence forces.
Another accomplished Ajeet Mr. Nagendra V Mali, (1785), Hoy, Navachetana Microfin Services Pvt. Ltd, Haveri, Social Entrepreneur, educationist and Social activist explained the need to provide finance at micro level.
Mr.Milind A Katti (1801),Vij, entrepreneur, owner of two companies, DemandFarm and DemandShore spoke on the occasion.
Sri Basavaraj R Kabade, (1843) M Tech, IIT, Madras, Engineer at Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike spoke about the challenges of being honest and being non-corrupt in public life. Dr Venkateshwara Rao Gummadi ,(1810) Scientist and researcher explained about the cancer drug that he has discovered which is in its advanced stages, after many clinical trials ,for release to the market.
Mr Praveen Kumar Darshankar, 1822, Company Secretary, Happiest Minds Technologies Private Limited, released the document outlining the scheme of Scholarships planned to be given to students from the corpus established for the purpose. The batch declared a sum of Rs Fifteen lakhs to be deposited in the bank for the purpose. (SSBJ 1991 Batch Members Benevolent Fund Trust)
Sri Basavaraj H Patil (1902) Vij, Hoy, advocate, Raichur, proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of former teachers, present students of the school and families attended the gathering.
Mr. Siddramesh V Nara, 1783, Hoysala, Delivery Partner in Infosys, was the Master of Ceremony for the programme. The programme concluded with the photo session and lunch in the Cadets Mess.
In the evening, we witnessed an invigorating football match with present cadets. The programme of Silver Jubilee 1984-91 culminated with an orchestra followed by a grand dinner.
The interface of the cadets of the batch along with the former staff brought back the nostalgic memories. We all, students and staff relived it to its full.
