Pot of Extravagance - Explaining Staples

Pot of Extravagance falls into the category of consistency booster. You can banish 3 or 6 random cards from your extra deck face down to draw 1 or 2 cards. It has a few other restrictions, but basically if your playing a deck that doesn't really need the extra deck much, this card allows you to use your extra deck as a resource for a free plus 1 in card advantage. And generally, with how valuable even 1 card draw is in yugioh, this is normally worth it for all kinds of decks that don't make heavy use of the extra deck like Labrynth, Floo or stun decks. However, since this card is such a no brainer staple for degenerate type decks, its usually restricted on some kind of ban list depending on the meta your playing in.

Surprised the short didn't mention that its main limitation is that, this card has to be the very first thing you activate in your turn, otherwise, you can't even use it.

So letā€™s seeā€¦
There are 7 main pots (Greed, Generosity, Riches, Benevolence, Avarice and Acquisitiveness), and 4 combination pots (Prosperity, which is riches + generosity, extravagance, which is greed + riches, Dichotomy, which is avarice + Benevolence, and Duality, which is Greed + Generosity)ā€¦

Iā€™m going to challenge myself to make more pot combinationsā€¦
So last pot related short, there was the Benevolence + Generosity pot I madeā€¦

So letā€™s try Acquisitiveness + Avarice
Pot of Hoarding
Quickplay spell
Target 8 cards that are banished or in the GY: Shuffle all 8 cards into their owners deck, then draw 3 cards and apply 1 of the following effects if all those shuffled cards were of the same card type (Monster/Spell/Trap)
āšŖļøSet 1 ā€œPotā€ or ā€œJarā€ Spell/Trap card.
āšŖļøSpecial Summon (Face-up or facedown) 1 ā€œPotā€ or ā€œJarā€ Monster.
You can only activate 1 "Pot of Hoarding" per turn.

Then one for Benevolence + Riches:

Pot of Welfare
Quick-play Spell
Both Players Shuffle 2 cards of their choice that they own from their hand and the GY each into their deck, then they both draw 2 cards. This card is then banished facedown after this effect resolves. This cardā€™s activation cannot be negated or responded to.

Pot of Charity
Quick-play Spell
Shuffle 5 spell cards and/or Pendulum Monsters from your GY and/or face-up from your extra deck, then draw 2 cards, and afterwards, apply 1 of the following effects, then banish this card:
āšŖļøThe next time either player Pendulum Summons any number of monsters, they draw 1 card.
āšŖļøThe next time either player draws any number of cards by card effects, their opponent draws an equal number of cards.

I have non-YGO acquaintances who insist Pot of Greed is going to come off the list soon, this card exactly is why I think thats insane. Bro, they dont even let us have Pot of Greed but with two heavy conditions slapped onto it, why would they let us have the real deal?

Imagine if there wasn't a limit to how many cards you can banish from your extra deck. Like imagine Labrynth having 15, banish 15 and draw 5

It's a decent card that's for sure along with the other card allows you to banish 10 cards still those two with any combination of other cards that allow you to draw cards including the one allows you to draw three put two back and keep one in your hand throwing a few special summon monsters and you kind of have yourself a little bit of us decent Speedy deck even if you're not going for meta

This card is actually a fair trade because an extra deck in the modern combo is a free advantage for a deck that can use an extra deck. I mean a combo deck can use their extra deck for "free advantages" with very minimum drawback anytime they want. While this card is "very random" and heavily restricted.

Amazement, Labrynth, Gradius-Kaiju, phantasm spiral, umi, qliphort. Played it all, and Extravagance was absolute powerful tool for them! Too bad MD now harsly limit it, making all of my decks soo weakened, or straight unviable smh.

Better than prosperity in price, and does a similar thing.

thats the major issue of degen decks. a heavy resriction that makes it fair for non degen decks does not effect degendecks enough it goes past fair.
