I read that is because the engine is capable of those illegal speeds for the longevity of the engine. It's better to underwork a powerful engine than overwork a weak engine.

Thats not true
I got the limiter removed and I did 230kmh out of 240kmh on my corrola in 2020
And my CL9 Honda accord had the meter of only 180kmh which was strange because it was a V6 sedan but turns out removing the limiter makes it go past the marked numbers or 2nd round
