Hi, Iā€™m Patrick. Iā€™m a freelance science writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I hold a bachelorā€™s degree in Athletic Training and a masterā€™s in clinical exercise physiology. I used to work in the clinical setting as a certified athletic trainer, physical therapy aide, and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. After working in the clinical setting, I went back to school and became a teacher. The goal of my content is to help normal people, not just pre-med students, learn about the human body. That might mean explaining a topic from an anatomy class or exploring a topic from medical history.

my mate has some sort of titanium bone prosthetic in his left leg cause of the cancer he used to have, n it seems to lock up a lot in the cold weather. he equated the feeling to hitting your bare leg on a cold steel pole; that feeling but instead itā€™s radiating out from the inside. iā€™d hate that. being a cyborg sounds rough.

I got titanium implants in my toes and after surgery I didnā€™t feel the same. Can titanium cause infertility, muscle spasms?

Steel is annoying because of MRI. Is Titanium also used because it's not ferromagnetic, so MRIs should be safe to use with it?

Hey Corporis , Would it be possible to cover the major arteries in titanium to protect the body and get nutrients to support the surgery ?

Yep, I have a rod and three screws since the surgeons didn't know what I was talking about regarding an Ilizarov apparatus that is more bio-equivalent of a procedure... that interestingly I've wondered about coating the pins with silver. Anyways... now that I think about... maybe I can advocate for since was surprised wasn't an option.

So. Purely theoretically. Since cells bind to it. Would it be possible to replace every bone (or every major bone) with a titanium one?

I like how you and sci-show both showcased the exact same investigational device today (verified by the handwritten 1999-832 and imprinted DO NOT IMPLANT) for entirely different reasons, you at 0:15, them at the end of their snake video.

that image makes it look like the titanium ball is inserted inside the funmur, not on the outside. Does that titanium insert displace the cells that are normally inside there that need to provide some sort of vital function?
