Fifty years ago I worked in Borneo. We had our camp Orangutan (man of the jungle), Ataka and her infant son Frankie. She was a great mother and Frankie was like any one year old. She knew a lot of words and was the perfect guest. She would come to our location almost every day to see what we were up to. She and Frankie would stick around as long as there was something they could watch. They were fascinated by us fixing tools and equipment. We never did feed them but Ataka was really fond of drinking water out of a glass. When we left this camp we asked the folks setting up a national sanctuary for them to take them. I am sure they lived happy and safe lives.

I like to pose a question, how do we know they just started using tools out of nowhere. There’s this saying, “monkey see, monkey do.” Humans have been using tools since the dawn of time. How do we know that the monkeys didn’t witness the use of tools by humans and mimic the actions since they’ve seen the success we had in using them. Cuz if so I would disagree that they’re not coming to a Stone Age. Because man wasn’t shown how to craft tools, we figured it out with ingenuity
