Worried about tearing during labor? Let's talk about how you can help prevent it.

First, know that your body is amazing and designed for this! Tearing is common, especially for first-time moms, but there are ways to reduce the risk.

Mother-led Pushing: Trust your body. When you feel the urge to push, go with it. If you're not rushed, your tissues can stretch naturally. Slow, comfortable breaths during crowning can make a big difference. Make sure to push in a position that feels best to you - hand & knees, squatting & side lying are all great!

Warm Compress: Use warm washcloths or even a little oil on the perineum as baby crowns. The warmth increases blood flow and helps tissues stretch gently and may prevent tearing.

These techniques can help you have a smoother delivery. Your body is incredible-trust it!

Out of my 5 births, I only tore with my first born. I was 16 in the hospital, pressured into an epidural, RUSHED and no one told me that you can't walk after a epidural so when I tried to stand up, I fell down hard.
