How sweet! My old cat would jump on the laps of total strangers, a huge and fearless boy who accepted everyone as soon as they stepped inside. We knew we wanted to adopt him when he got so excited to have us pet him, he began to drool all over the place. Because he's a black cat, he had been overlooked and passed from shelter to shelter, until he landed in my lap and drooled all over my shirt. It was love at first slobber, haha! After he passed, we rescued a one-year-old black kitty. She came to us very traumatized, needing a surgery, cranky, swiping at us, barely tolerating us. We don't know how badly she was hurt before she came to the no-kill shelter, but we were eager to heal her tiny soul. It took her a year to stop hissing and biting, and 3 years to agree to sit beside me on the couch. She still refuses to sit on my lap. She's bossy, antisocial, and very much a queen of her domain. Then we temporarily lived on a farm with an adorable kitten who was a cuddle bug, and my cat saw what she was missing. She opened up, stopped swiping her claws at us, she tried exploring outside (it took her months to venture beyond to porch) and I think being around a calm cat helped her a lot. Although, she liked to bully that poor kitten. So many cat fights! 😓 We're back in an apartment where she rules and we are her minions. She's "slightly" more affectionate now, although very much on HER terms. She sleeps by my feet but won't get on my lap. She loves your videos, and when I play them on the TV, she calms down, sits at my feet, and drifts into a nap. Cats are amazing companions, and each are so different. 🐈‍⬛
