Why did Black resign? Can you find the tactical idea?

He resigned because the king was left with three legal moves after this check and in any of those moves he would've forked the rook while gvivng a check and Gabriel ultimately losing the rook

He is forking his king and rook after his next move, that's why he resign.

You didn't explain , what happens if Gabriel took the bishop sacrifice with a pawn instead of queen.

For those who are confused as to why pawn can't really capture the bishop sac.

White was few moves away to checkmate but his bishop was blocking the queen from joining the "g file" (the file where his rooks were).

The bishop sac was a forcing move.

(A forcing move is a move in chess that could dictate what an opponent should do like check, a threat to checkmate, or a threat to a very important piece.)

He got 2 forcing move choices for the sacrificed bishop:

#1) he can use the bishop to check.

#2) He can use the bishop to threaten the queen.

The main purpose of sacrificing the bishop is just to remove it from blocking his queen, and second, to force a move to keep the opponent from building a defense from the coming checkmate.

He could just kill the bishop with his pawn

He resigned because if king goes to e8 then queen b5 check wins the rook and if king goes to g8 then queen g4 check wins the rook.

For those who are wondering,Black didn't take the bishop with the pawn because then after queen g2 mate is unstoppable.

1st is recognizing the tactic. second is finding an awkward move that facilitates the tactic, last is following through with the same vein no matter the advantage.

to whatever square the king sidesteps, the next check the white queen will give, will result in the loss of the black rook.

If Ke8, then Qb4+. If King steps into the g file( Kg7 and Kg8 ) then Qg4+. In this two ways, White wins the Rook. And therefore, c5 is the logical move, and then Qxb6. (1-0)

Let me know if I am right

Please tell why a5 pon did not capture the Bishop.

@aakashparmar9378

The reason for resignation is simple
After Qb4+
Black is left with two legal moves
If Ke8 then Qb5+ forks the king and rook
If Kg8 or Kg7 then Qg4+ forks the king and rook
Bo matter what the rook is gone ๐Ÿ”ฅ

If
1. ... axb4,
2. Qg2 Qe8
3. e7 if queen takes, Rg8 and mate
if rook moves to g8 then also mate
