I'm 41 years old, and about 6 months ago a new female friend I met through mutual friends said: "I'm proud of you" to me. She was extremely genuine with it & she truly meant it. I kid you not, I literally held back tears... You can't imagine how much hearing those words actually means, especially to someone who never hears them!

My husband used to tell me how proud he was of me as a wife, mother, homemaker, etc. and I always reciprocated by telling him I was proud of him for being a good provider, father, etc. It works both ways!
