2 horizontal 1 vertical. 1 horizontal is for gaming, the other one for youtube or whatever you watch in the background, the vertical one is for spotify and discord and for documents. 3 horizontal are also good, but the vertical monitor takes up less space so it's better.

I have 2 27 inches, I think it's the sweet spot. Main monitor is 1080p 165hz with fairly good color, secondary is 1080p 60hz with poor color that I had laying around.
Once you go to two monitors, you can never go back.

2 horizontal, one vertical the two horizontal ones are for a YouTube video/stream/Spotify/the game you're playing/OBS, the vertical is for chat, if you're streaming

For gaming i totally agree, 2 big monitors is usually plenty, but for jobs like programming and coding and automation you usually use more, i know someone that has a pretty powerful computer and only uses it for work and it has 4 monitors, 2 horizontal and 2 vertical

One in front one on the left slightly tilted is the best setup, because you can heve discord open at all times
