Honestly, nothing. We felt like God was leading us somewhere other than Canada but we weren't sure where yet, so this was a good way for us to explore and see where He was taking us.
We also knew paying for a storage unit for our extra stuff wasn't something we wanted to do because we felt like it was a waste of money, we weren't sure when we would be back for it and ultimately, God asked us if we were willing to give it all to Him. It's all going to rot away one day and letting it go was a surrender, were we going to give up our earthly possessions and trust Him? So we did! And it was incredibly freeing!
We also chose not to keep our home and sold it instead for a few reasons. One being that keeping it as a rental meant we would have to pay someone to check in on it and maintain it, and we had heard far too many horror stories of tenant who trashed homes. We didn't want that extra stress while not being nearby. The cost of keeping it was also quite high, and since we have sold it have heard it's even higher mortgage rates.
NOW, had circumstance been different, we probably would have kept our home as a back up if we truly didn't like full-time rv living, and I highly suggest you do this if you are testing the waters and are not sure AND you can financially can swing it with tenants or otherwise. But it's been 2 years since we have left and we have not returned to Canada, so for us, it worked!
.
So do I regret selling our home and possessions to live and travel full-time in our RV? The short answer is no.
The longer answer is that I truly miss the house we called him for almost 10 years and I did have dreams about leaving it for MONTHS after we left which were awful. I miss the memories and neighbours and family we had. But I don't regret trading that for the adventures and experiences we have gotten to make, the opportunities our boys have now staying put for a bit in Arizona and people we have been blessed to meet. I know God was moving in our lives when he spoke to us and asked us to trust Him, give him everything and follow His lead. That doesn't make it any easier, but it does make it worth it! Because His plan is always so much better! ā¤ļø
