I keep hearing people say you can’t benefit from lossless audio if you’re using Bluetooth or lower-end gear—but that’s not true. The separation of instruments and other details still comes through. Sure, you don’t get the full bandwidth, but a high-quality source still sounds noticeably better than a low-quality one. It’s like recording onto tape from a CD versus copying from tape to tape: a tape recorded directly from a CD captures far more detail than a tape copied from another tape. In short, the better the source, the better it sounds—no matter what gear or medium you’re using.

The fact it took them this long to add lossless audio is sad. Tidal can go up to 24 bit 192khz based on the song and is only $11 for that quality. Apple Music isn't far off. And Spotify doesn't have Dolby Atmos support either. The most expensive app with barely any features.

What do you mean "through Spotify connect"? The lossless setting will work on mobile and desktop apps as well.

Hopefully with this new feature, we'll get back the 3.5mm headphone jacks on phones.

Is this why the music i listened to in my 2001 Monte carlo SS sounded better than these new cars with apple car play and android auto?

Voice was loud and clear and the bass was more punchier

WAS a Spotify user for 10 years. These are why apple is not cooked...

1. Need wired headphone/speaker for lossless.
2. Apple is still cheaper with lossless enabled. Spotify aims to make it expensive.
3. Spotify shuffle just repeats stuff. Doesn't work.
4. Spotify doesn't support indie/small artist's at all.
5. Spotify doesn't have dolby Atmos audio.
6. Apple's Now playing looks gorgeous.

Not true. I am a premium subscriber and can not stream losslessly on Spotify. I chatted with one of their techies and was told that it has not been delivered to everyone and is a gradual process that may take some time to completely roll out.

What about when you are using Bluetooth with LDAC?

"unlike some of those services Spotify isn't charging you extra" ??? maybe you should have actually named some services that charge extra for lossless instead of 3 services that provide lossless in subscriptions that are cheaper than Spotify's

@LovecraftianGodsKiller

But won't the XM5's which support LDAC, support the increase in quality, especially on devices that do support LDAC such as Android and Linux?
