This may be feasible if there is a bad infection in the skin, but San Pedro’s seem pretty tough. I do water lophs from the bottom. I fill the water about midway up to the root bulb in the pots so I don’t have to put any around the green skin—it keeps the skin from getting infected from various things and it keeps the insects out of the soil.
