I had a hard decision to make this Shabbat. We were celebrating the dedication of a (new old) Torah which is being donated to our synagogue.
As the Torah was being read for the first time in shul, our we noticed that it was missing a letter. How someone missed this before us, I do not know. But I was faced with a dilemma, On one hand, the family traveled to be here for this special day and many guests came in from afar. On the other hand, we are not allowed To read and bless an unkosher Torah.
Obviously we made the difference called decision to inform the congregation about what happened and we concluded the Tara reading from a different scroll.

Question - in Devarim 23:2, there is a letter that is different between Ashkenazi Sifrei Torah (a he) and Chasidish, Sefardi, & Mizrachi Sifrei Torah (an aleph) - explained in HaYom Yom 7 Elul - as a Chabad rabbi, if you were reading from a Sefer Torah with the he rather than the aleph, would you continue or get a different one?

I think that G-d doesn’t care. It’s the message that counts. The Pharisees and Sadducees held closely to the law. They were overly strict and unrealistic that it hurt many people. Many people didn’t have the means to hold close to the law. They were looked down upon by the pharisees and sadducces. Yup, you should have continued.
