Surprisingly, the most difficult part wasn’t the climb, it was the logistics to get to the trailhead:

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

➡️ There are 4 ROUTES to get to the top of Mt Fuji. They are all OPEN until September 10th 🟢

➡️ Out of the 4, only ONE as a fee. You need to pay 2,000¥ to access the Yoshia trail, which is the most popular one.

➡️ Even if the other 3 are FREE, as of this year you need to go on this website to register the date and time you want to ascent Fuji : www.fujisan-climb.jp/en/

After registering you will get a QR code that you’ll need to show at the start of your trailhead ⚠️

➡️ The ancestral and most common way to climb is to start by night to arrive at summit to watch the sun rise.

But hiking in the night is when most accidents happen. To deter climbers from doing so, there are now start times put into place. If you want to start climbing between 4pm and 3am (which is when you need to start if you want to make it up for sunrise) you need to book a night in one of the mountain huts. A night cost between 10 000 to 15 000¥ per person.

➡️ Alternatively if you want to save on booking a night in the hut and don’t mind to seeing the sunrise, you are allowed to do a daytime climb if you start between 3am and 4pm without booking a night in a hut.

Personally I couldn’t book a night on time so I start at 4am, saw the sunrise on the way up. I reached the summit (3 776m) at 8am, walked around the crater and was back down at noon
