I prefer to just drop the engine and trans out with the subframe as an assembly (at least on the FWD Pentastar vehicles), but that's just me. It makes lining everything up when you're going back together a lot simpler and quicker.

I drop it with trans, suspension and cradle on the rig and lift the vehicle off with the lift if i can afford the lift being occupied. Just disconnect the macpherson struts, hang the calipers, to avoid the brake bleed, steering column, and the engine harness connector if it isn't hard wired to the harness like some German cars. About off and separated within hour and a half if had 2 cups of Joe
