To be real, most of us wouldn't exist without marriage, and many of us turned out in an advantageous situation because of our parents' marriage. People are often quick to declare family as one of the most important things in life, and the most important people in one's life, if compared to friends and pursuit of dating/love. Yet, they talk down about that which is basically essential to perpetuating successful loving families, which is the generational pursuit of love and marriage. It is irrational to value family, but talk down about finding a suitable partner.

In Japan marriage is strongly tied to the financial system. It comes with numerous benefits such as tax reductions, healthcare benefits and so on. The reality is that especially women who are financially unempowered in Japanese society want to marry out of financial reasons. Not for Disney story love.

Many people have a misconception about marriage, thinking it’s all about being ‘lovey-dovey,’ always happy, never arguing, and without any struggles. But in reality, a successful marriage takes hard work, commitment, and patience. It's not about endless romance; it's about building something meaningful together through the ups and downs. The true rewards of marriage aren't just in the moments of passion but in creating a home—a place where you and your partner, and eventually your kids, can grow together, support each other, and build a life. The struggle and effort create bonds that last, and those bonds are what make family life so fulfilling. In the end, it’s not about chasing happiness but about building a life with those who matter most.
