I spray my gears with wd40 to get all the crap off then wipe down and apply lube. Also good to use to spray a cloth lightly and wipe down your shocks

BTW WD-40 doesn't ruin disks. They just need decontaminated.

I accidentally put grease on my disc brakes and now, the rear brake doesn't have any friction no matter how hard and the front brakes still perform alright but it's super loud

Don't ever put wd40 anywhere near your bike. It ruins bearings and pivots too, by drying them out. Same goes for chains. Wd40 is evil.
