🏔️The Ultimate Travel Guide to Gornergrat: How to Experience the Best of Zermatt

I’ve visited Zermatt many times, but my trip to Gornergrat this time was truly unforgettable. If you’re planning a trip to Switzerland, @Gornergrat should definitely be on your bucket list. Here’s how we spent our day exploring this stunning area.
 
⏰ Start your day early and head to the Zermatt Gornergrat train station around 8 a.m. – the earlier, the better.
 
❗️As you ride up, be sure to sit on the right side of the train to get the best views of the Matterhorn. The trip takes 33 minutes.
 
🏔️ When you reach the top, I recommend reserving up to two hours to take in the breathtaking scenery. Gornergrat offers incredible vistas of the Gorner Glacier, one of the longest glaciers in the Alps. Spend some time soaking in the beauty of the area.
 
❗️At the summit, don’t miss the ‘ZOOOM the Matterhorn’ exhibition, where you can learn about the history of the Matterhorn and its climbers. The museum also features a VR paragliding experience.
 
🚂 Visit the Golden Spot, one of the three locomotives of the first generation of the Gornergrat Railway.
 
🪻 For more adventure, ride one station down to Rotenboden and visit the highest alpine garden in Europe. From there, take a scenic walk to 📍Riffelsee, which beautifully reflects the Matterhorn. It’s a picturesque spot you won’t want to miss.
 
📱 Check the website for the current location of the Valais black-nosed sheep. You can hike or take the train to see these unique sheep, known for their spiral horns and distinctive black noses.
 
🥾 Afterward, explore various hiking options in the area. My favorite is the 5-Lake Hike, offering stunning views and diverse landscapes. There are also a few restaurants where you can enjoy a meal after your adventures.
