Are you tired of throwing away perfectly good food because it spoils too quickly? Shockingly, according to the UK food waste charity, WRAP, over 4.5 million tonnes of edible food are wasted in UK households every year.
The culprit? Your fridge's temperature! Did you know that the average fridge temperature in the UK is seven degrees, which is way higher than the recommended three to five degrees by food experts? This can lead to food spoiling faster and ultimately being thrown away.
But don't worry, there's a solution! Hellmann's releases "smart jar" to combat food waste and improve fridge temperature. The new jar uses heat-sensitive ink to reveal hidden messages and quirky graphics when fridge temperature drops below five degrees, helping to reduce food waste and save money for families.
Hellmann's 'Smart Jar' has taken the guesswork out of fridge temperature control. Hellmann's has also partnered with WRAP to develop an online tool that explains how to set any brand of fridge to the optimum temperature.
The new āsmart jarā label was unveiled to mark Food Waste Action Week 2023 (March 6th-12th), and was designed by illustrator Ellen Porteus. Hellmannās marketing team have used influencers in the UK to launch the āSmart Jarā campaign.
The campaign is part of Hellmannās wider āMake Taste Not Wasteā positioning, launched in 2021, which has already inspired over 200 million people worldwide to make the most of their leftovers. Hellmann's campaigns have shown that even small changes in daily routines can have a big impact on our environment and our wallets.
