St. Nektarios welcomed me as no one in my family is Orthodox. I used to sit in the back of the Church alone when I first started attending liturgy. The Icon of Saint Nektarios was right by me and I began to feel like he was attending liturgy with me. When I came late he seemed to scold me with his eyes 😂. I started going to Orthros so I could be sure to sit near him. I only found out later he was also born on October 1 just like me I took that as confirmation I was his student. I was baptized Nektaria February 22, 2023

Righteous Queen Esther. As a little kid I had a kindness for her and even dressed up as her on Halloween...long story short after narrowing down to five potential patron saints, asking my priest his gut feeling, and praying on it, she stuck out the most. So I guess she can say she's my childhood friend.

St. Nicholas II of Russia. I come from an old Radical Reformation family, and in the very literal fires and waters of the Counter Reformation, the czars offered protection to my family from the Catholics and Lutherans. I had always felt a debt of gratitude to the Romanov family, even before I had even heard of Orthodoxy.

King Solomon. I was an impious low-church protestant my whole life, until a year ago i decided to search for the right protestant denomination to be a part of. At the time I was reading through kings, I got to the point where Solomon was granted a wish from God because of his righteousness. We know well that he prayed for wisdom and was given that and more. I never prayed as a protestant, I was never taught, and the way they prayed felt wrong and irreverent. I decided to evoke the simple words, "God grand me wisdom." I solely prayed this for two weeks, and then I got the sudden urge to research the Orthodox faith. Things I wanted to know were answered, and things I always knew deep down were found in the Orthodox Church. Through Solomons inspiration to pray, God granted my plea for wisdom, with a boundless treasury of it, but he also united me to His Body. Also, proverbs and the rest of the wisdom books in the bible (of which he may or may not have had a hand in writing them all) have been my favorite books of the Bible since I first read it as a protestant.

Saint Spyridon. I had no idea who I wanted, and then I heard the name Spyridon being repeated in conversation by people near me, people who I didn't speak their language. He was the first Saint where I was particularly excited about his life, and I think his was the first of your videos on saints that I watched.

St. Panteleimon! I was raised unchurched, but he has popped up too many times in my life to be a coincidence, including a chapel dedicated to him being the closest Orthodox presence to my childhood home. He's a doctor who was converted when he asked God to prove Himself by healing a child who'd been bitten by a viper--which He did. As he was martyred, St. Panteleimon begged God to forgive his killers. I believe he's been watching over me since before I was a Christian.

Mine is St. Ksenia of Petersburg. I originally had chosen St. Olga of Kiev, but after being catechised and studying for 2 years, St. Ksenia stood out to me. Her life reminded me very much of my own, and I experienced some interesting miracles surrounding her. I was baptised by a heiromonk who when he heard my choice, said, "Oh wow, I have strong connections there!" I miss him very much.

Saint Herman of Alaska. He picked me after I prayed to him to help ease my mother's back pain, which is chronic. I've never been to a divine liturgy because there is no Orthodox church near me, but Orthodoxy is in my heart.
