Addiction is more than just an insatiable craving; it's an intricate web of trauma, pain, and the desperate hunt for solace. In this video, I embark on a journey to uncover the deeper roots of addiction, focusing particularly on how trauma fuels our choices and dependencies.
There's an insightful theory of addiction which suggests that our inclinations towards harmful substances or behaviors arise from a profound need to fill a void – a void formed by pain, suffering, or deep-seated trauma. While it's easy to label addicts or judge their choices, understanding the deeper layers of their psyche can shed light on the true nature of addiction.
From the initial foray into the realm of drugs, like heroin, the motivation isn't always about the high. More often than not, it's a silent cry for help, an attempt to self-medicate, and to mend what feels broken within. Through this dialogue, I aim to inspire empathy, foster understanding, and unravel the true reasons behind why we get ensnared in the grip of addiction.
