I just moved from an apartment garden, to an acre and a half. I'm planting tons! I might not be able to harvest it all, but it will make for good compost and practice, and maybe a chance to have neighbors come pick some stuff.

Ben is best. No faffing about, straight in. Some videos spend 2+ minutes telling you about themselves and the history of their plot, etc.

Made some of these mistakes last year, I was exhausted by July and got my dad to take over the gardening. The year before we had a few small pots on the deck and I loved handling the garden. However this past year I started inside with too many stuff, cucumbers, tomatoes, cauliflower, and flowers from seeds. It was too much, and I put all the seeds in at once. The cauliflower only started to show the white after. We ended up getting a few tomatoes though. I had also just gotten my first job the winter before and spent a bunch of money on planters. This year Iโ€™m taking a step back. Flowers, which are less laborious, tomatoes, and probably a few other things. Iโ€™m just gonna take my time this year and let my self enjoy it rather than stress myself out.

As Iโ€™ve already said, some months ago, I found your channel last year and watched every episode whilst in France caring for my mother. I do remember one of the videos saying that you shouldnโ€™t jump in and try to do too much, too soonโ€ฆโ€ฆso what did I do? I came back to England, took on a 10 rod allotment, made 20 odd raised beds, sourced woodchip, dug it, bagged it and made paths, sourced well rotted manure, dug it, bagged it and filled the beds, planted them up in autumn last year, covered them and waited. Loads of produce by early spring so took on another 10 rod allotment adjacent and a 5 rod allotment also adjacent! Iโ€™m currently potting on like mad to start planting on all over again, although on a much larger scale! Oops, sorry ๐Ÿ˜€

You have some great tips and have enjoyed your Chanel. Sorry would have to disagree with your thinning of eg carrots. Last year I sowed 2 half barrels with carrots. Equal amount of seed. Thinned one barrel and left the other. Although the thinning made uniform carrots I had a much bigger and better harvest from the non thinning barrel. Also carrot fly was not present in the non thinning barrel. If you donโ€™t mind carrots in all shape and sizes do not thin. Maybe you could try experimenting
