The power guard is also a really good method to re angle your attacks, if your doing your triple pokes and the monster jumps behind you, you can power guard and instantly flick 180 degrees to continue your pokes, and the bonus damage of it being a counter thrust kinda makes up for the time spent doing the maneuver.
